Emma Raducanu is best known as the first British Woman to win a Grand Slam since 1977. However, she has been dealt a harsh hand since winning her maiden Slam early on in her career. The former US Open champion has had to contend with injuries for a long time now.
Raducanu underwent a number of surgeries on her wrist and ankle in May this year. While Injuries may have derailed Emma’s career for a while, she seems intent on getting back on track.
Emma took to social media to announce her return to the practice courts. In the video that she posted, Raducanu can be seen practicing with fellow tennis player Kyle Edmund.

Raducanu’s announcement is wonderful news for tennis. The young 20-year-old is a joy to watch when she is playing. However, fans are a bit skeptical about her injuries, since she can be seen practicing without braces.

It’s often puzzling 🤔when seeing tennis players who had wrist surgery
—> not wearing any guard knowing that especially after surgery 🚨a small mishit can be #disastrous
BTW.. great to see Emma back

Emma’s injuries sidelined her for the better part of the year. Undergoing multiple surgeries meant she had to sit out of the French Open and Wimbledon. It is still unclear if Emma can and will play in the US Open.
When will Emma Raducanu return?
Raducanu is still recuperating from her surgeries. She participated in the Australian Open in January but was defeated by Coco Gauff in straight sets.
Out of the ten matches, Raducanu has played this year, she has won only five. Her best performance came in the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, where she made it to the quarterfinal.
Emma’s last match was at Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, losing 6-2, 6-1 to Jelena Ostapenko. Raducanu has not played a match since April due to injuries.

Things look to be on the upswing for Raducanu now. She has set up a tentative return date since she signed up for the MGM Macau Tennis Masters in December.
Raducanu will return in the off-season since he signed up for the exhibition tournament in China. Wu Yibing, Taylor Fritz, and Frances Tiafoe are some of the other players set to participate in the event.
Emma Raducanu’s charming personality was greatly missed on the tours. However, Emma’s recovery is looking very promising. If all goes well, the young Briton will return to the tennis court this year with a bang!
