The expert coach, Patrick Mouratoglou states his opinion on the upcoming Roland-Garros French Open-2022 and the competition between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
The French coach has led the likes of Serena Williams, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Coco Gauff to much greater heights in their tennis careers. Moreover, he was the latest addition to the Romanian player Simona Halep’s coaching staff as well.
Mouratoglou as a tennis expert himself often puts forward his remarks and opinions regarding either ongoing or forthcoming tournaments or the key players involved in the same.
Djokovic has the plus factor over Nadal according to Patrick Mouratoglou
In an elaborate talk, Mouratoglou expounded on how the Clay court Grand-Slam of this year might go and who has the upper-hand.
“I think the clay season is going to be unbelievable. First, there is so much on the line. Because who’s going to win Roland Garros is a key, ” said the French coach.
Furthermore, Patrick referred to Nadal having a higher number of Grand-Slam titles compared to Djokovic. Stating that Djokovic may have an advantage over Rafael in the French Open, Mouratoglou said- “This battle between those two for the number of Grand-Slam titles is unbelievable. So, Roland Garros can be a key this season.”
Detailing Novak’s upper-hand, Patrick explained- “If you look at the start of the season and if you look at the global situation, Novak has the lead for me. He’s winning more Grand-Slams than anyone every year. So he’s the huge favourite.”
The coach added that because of the experiences of Djokovic with regard to CoviD, he has not played many matches.
Mouratoglou speaks about the confidence Nadal has gained
Mouratoglou moves on to Rafael Nadal as he speaks his view on the latter.
“On the other hand, Rafa gained so much confidence because as Novak wasn’t playing, he won almost everything“- stated Patrick.
Since Nadal has played more matches he has the edge. But, because of his injury, Rafael might lack some matches in this tennis season is what Patrick Mouratoglou has to say.
Therefore, the two iconic tennis players are in a balance when it comes to the factors influencing their wins in the French Open and other forthcoming tournaments.
“If Novak is gonna be able to win everything until Rafa comes back from his injury, that would be a game-changer. Because then you would have Novak with full confidence back,” opined the French coach.
In addition, according to Patrick, the task of winning these matches won’t be easy as well.
Considering other players in the frame, he mentions Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas who may have chances at the Clay-court Slam title as well.
Moreover, when Nadal has the confidence and control he has more chances than Djokovic. Whereas, Novak once at his best can beat Nadal easily on the clay court too.
At last, Patrick states the tense factor of Rafael and the aggression of Djokovic will be the key when they face each other at the Roland Garros tourney this year.
