Playing her last tennis match in August of 2021, Venus Williams wants to return to the court. Being 41 years old has not turned down Venus’ desire to play the game. In the meantime she is preparing for her next competition following a break after competing in Wimbledon last July.
The Williams sisters have won 30 Grand Slam championships between them (Serena with 23, Venus with 7). They’ve also won 14 Grand Slam titles and three Olympic gold medals while playing doubles together.
After her break in the early months of 2021, Venus Williams is yet to be back on the court. She is a five-time singles champion at Wimbledon and has seven major singles trophies in all.
Venus Williams to miss this year’s Wimbledon Open
Ever since Venus Williams had joined the Women’s Tennis Association in 1994, she has won seven Grand Slam titles and five Olympic medals. She has four gold Olympic medals and one silver medal. In February 2002, Venus became the first female Black tennis player in the Open Era to rank number one in singles. She was second of all time after Althea Gibson in the 1950s.
Recently receiving a wildcard for the grass-court Major, Serena Williams will be featuring in her first singles match in almost a year. However, Venus took to Instagram to confirm that she will not be taking part in the English Grand Slam. She said, “No I’m not playing, but I’ll be watching. I’ll be watching Serena.”
This was Venus’s expression after stating she isn’t playing Wimbledon! Looked so sad and disappointed 😢😢😢 I really hope she is okay and will feel fit again soon. That was quite a deep and personal Q and A I believe. pic.twitter.com/Gp5l5ZVYby

Previously, Venus gave an update of her life on her YouTube channel and gave a timeline on her comeback. She said, “I look forward to getting back on the court. And of course I’ll let you know as soon as I know but I swear it’s soon.”
She further added, “I can’t wait. I’ve got so many questions like ‘Are you playing the French Open’, ‘Are you playing Wimbledon’ I’m gonna leave a little bit of mystery, I can’t tell you exactly when because I feel like I want it to be a surprise. So I will definitely surprise you.”
Away from the game, Venus is making waves with her active-wear and lifestyle business EleVen, which she founded to empower women to be their best selves in whatever career path they choose.
