A new member has finally arrived in the Williams-Ohanian household. Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian welcomed their second daughter on August 22nd. The power couple took to social media to announce the arrival of their second child.
Serena had announced the news of her pregnancy in May, before the Met Gala. Williams looked to be in the advanced stages of pregnancy but nobody was sure about her due date.
Serena recently uploaded a heartwarming video on her TikTok account. In the clip, Serena can be seen sitting with her husband and daughter Olympia. She then gets up and goes out of the frame, only to return with her newborn, whom they have named Adira River.

Alexis also shared the news with the world on X (formerly known as Twitter). He spoke of feeling grateful that his house is teeming with love. Ohanian further added that Serena is the GMOAT (Greatest Mother of All Time). “Your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea,” wrote Ohanian.

Serena also shared a picture of the family, whose happiness was quite evident. The 23-time Grand Slam champion’s post was flooded with congratulatory messages.
Serena retired from tennis in 2022, wanting to “expand her family.” Now her dream has come true, five years after giving birth to Olympia. As for Olympia, she now has the chance to be Venus to Adira’s Serena.
Why did Serena Williams keep Olympia in the dark about her pregnancy?
Serena’s pregnancy news did not just surprise her fans. The tennis legend revealed that she and her husband kept the news from Olympia as well.
Williams posted a little teaser on Instagram, from the time she found out she was pregnant to the Met Gala reveal. In the clip, Serena divulges that Olympia, their oldest daughter is yet to find out about her pregnancy. And what was Serena and Alexis’ reason for keeping her in the dark? Quite simply because the five-year-old cannot keep a secret!

However, the couple did share the news of Serena’s pregnancy with Olympia in an adorable video. They must surely be happy to have their family grow by one.
Williams has documented her pregnancy and some of the problems she faced along the way. Serena surely feels validated by her decision to retire when she did. We wish Serena and Adira good health.
