Former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic has channelized his career through the placement of impressive records following his extravagant on-court endurance and performance. He has been termed as part of ‘The Big Three’ trio of top tennis professionals of all time alongside Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
Despite his dominance in the ATP circuit that has been prevalent for almost 15 years now and has successfully conquered every possible milestone, the Serb like any ordinary person has faced a few challenges concerning his married life.
In a talk show “In Depth with Graham Bensinger” hosted by American journalist Graham Bensinger, Nole admitted to the marital challenges he faced on his journey with his wife of 9 years Jelena Djokovic.
In the talk show, Graham Bensinger leaned towards hearsay concerning Nole’s married life and asked “In one of the podcast interviews you gave you alluded to going through marital challenges, what do you think you learned having gone through that?”
Responding to Graham’s question posed at Novak, he responded by saying “I learned that when you expect the least it’s when you know life will give you something to work at internally. I really feel my relationship became deeper, more significant, more intrinsic.”
“I realized actually up to that moment that relationship we decide that some of the closest people in my life were quite superficial and shallow because I just didn’t know how to handle that,” added Novak Djokovic.
Graham continued the conversation further by asking the Serbian “What did it teach you about his wife?” to which Djoker empathically replied quoting “It taught me we have to go on this journey together and that it’s inevitable that she has to endure the same journey as I do at the same time. Otherwise, we can’t stay together. And I am really grateful and happy that she embarked on the same journey.”
The Serb recently replenished his world No. 1 position as he crowned himself the winner of the Australian Open 2023 after ousting Greek tennis professional Stefanos Tsitsipas and earning huge prize money to his name.
