Patrick Mouratoglou’s opinions are always taken in the highest regard provided his unparalleled experience in tennis. The French coach is often vocal about his predictions of players, and once again, hasn’t hesitated to present another point. This time he opined about Carlos Alcaraz.
The former coach to tennis icon Serena Williams, Mouratoglou, is one of the finest tennis coaches the sport has to itself. Mouratoglou, apart from preparing tennis professionals to achieve the best of their abilities, is also an exceptional spokesperson. Giving his prognosis on several matters surrounding the sport is his prerogative.
Mouratoglou is fairly active on social media and regularly interacts with the tennis community. In a recent video he uploaded, he talks about Carlos Alcaraz having an edge over Rafael Nadal.
Serena Williams’ ex-coach Mouratoglou has opined that Carlos Alcaraz, unlike Rafael Nadal, is an all-court player. He believes that the Spanish tennis legend Nadal has his reign of dominance only on the clay court. According to him, Alcaraz on the other hand, can perform significantly well on all surfaces.
“I think Carlos Alcaraz is an all-court player, I don’t think he is a clay-court player. Rafa is more of a clay court player. He’s an all-court player. He has learned to be good on other surfaces, but originally, he was really a clay court player, which is not the case for Carlos,” stated Mouratoglou in a social media post.
Patrick Mouratoglou is convinced that Alcaraz has the upper hand of having that embedded in him since the start and stated “I think he’s an all-court player from the start. He’s good on hard as on clay, maybe I would give him a little more advantage on clay than hard because he has some weapons that are deadly on clay.”
The young Spaniard made an entry into the ATP circuit in 2022. In his first year of turning pro, he clinched five titles which includes an impressive Grand Slam win, at the US Open in 2022. Alcaraz also managed to end the season as the world No. 1. He has unquestionably set a high competitive bar in the sport.
