Serena Williams is one of the most acclaimed tennis players in the history of the sport and has always managed to steal the spotlight cover from many professionals.
Williams’, often dubbed as one of ‘the greatest athletes of all time’, also serves as an inspirational model for budding players looking to make their way into the circuit.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion fell one slam behind Margaret Court’s 24 slam record despite trying her level best to overtake her legacy. Unfortunately, Serena’s run ended in professional tennis last year when she announced her retirement and showcased her final performance at the US Open 2022.
The former world No. 1 and her elder sister Venus Williams, who’s also a famous tennis player, were coached by their father Richard Williams from an early age. Serena was ranked at the top of the WTA ranking for a consecutive 319 weeks.
Serena is an American-born national and has represented her country for numerous years, not to mention in international competitions like the Olympics. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan and later with her family moved to Florida for her competitive training.
‘The king of WTA’ has been raised in a Christian Baptist family and on various occasions has spoken about her faith in Christianity and has also been witnessed praying in between matches to help her provide strength and positivity.
The 41-year-old has amassed a huge fan base for herself and in 2017 got married to famous internet personality and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian with whom she welcomed her daughter Olympia Ohanian.
When did Serena Williams get baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness?
Serena Williams’ career spanned a massive 27 years and later went onto a path no one ever saw coming after bowing out of the sport in 2022.
Later her retirement, Serena shifted focus toward her religion and was baptized as a Jehovah’s witness in Florida, in 2017. In an interview with Vogue, Williams commented on her thoughts in terms of her faith in Christianity saying “Being a Jehovah’s Witness is important to me, but I’ve never really practiced it and have been wanting to get into it.”

Many heads turned her way when she did not celebrate her daughter Olympia’s first birthday and spoke about how being a Jehovah’s witness bars them to do ponder on such occasions quoting “Olympia doesn’t celebrate birthdays. We’re Jehovah’s Witnesses, so we don’t do that.”
Williams now spends her days off-court planning fun activities to do with her family and devotes her time to work on her capitalist venture company, Serena Ventures.
