Lakeisha Williams is the stepmother of the famous tennis players, Venus and Serena Williams. She tied the knot with their father, Richard Williams, in 2009, seven years after he and their mother, Oracene Price, parted ways. Prior to their marriage, Lakeisha ran a grocery store.
Lakeisha, who is three decades younger than Richard Williams, has a nine-year-old son, Dylan, with the ex-coach. Lakeisha and Richard Williams got divorced in 2017 and have since been embroiled in a drawn-out legal dispute.
Lakeisha has taken legal action to keep the Williams family home in Palm Beach, Florida, a place where Venus and Serena Williams spent their childhood. Richard Williams and Lakeisha moved into the house together in 2009, but her name was removed from the property’s records in 2017 after Richard accused her of signing his name without permission to gain full control of the residence.
Lakeisha is attempting to halt the divorce from being finalized, as her lawyer, Sara Lawrence, has indicated in court documents that she and her husband Richard Williams have reconciled and that the divorce proceedings have been inactive since August 2019.
Who is Serena Williams’ biological mother?
The success of the Williams sisters on the court may be unparalleled, but their mother, Oracene Price, had a profound impact on the sport before they became superstars. Many people think Richard Williams is responsible for the success of Serena and Venus, but Price has also been a massive influence in their lives, yet it often goes unnoticed.
Nicknamed “Brandy”, Oracene Price was born in Saginaw, Michigan on April 3, 1952. She was raised in the United States and graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1970. Price then went on to earn a degree in nursing from Western Michigan University.
Oracene and Richard Williams began their relationship before Richard’s tennis coaching career was established. This resulted in the two having Venus and Serena, and then as a family, they decided to move to Florida where Rick Macci offered to coach the legendary sisters at no cost.
In 2000, Price chose to separate from her husband due to seemingly irreconcilable issues, and the two officially ended their marriage two years later. Price feels overlooked as a coach because she is a parent first and foremost.
Oracene is said to have taught herself tennis in order to be able to demonstrate the finer points of the sport to her daughters. The legendary sisters have shared that their mother was a source of inspiration for them, instilling confidence and self-assurance in them.
