It came as a shock to many fans when Shakira broke up with Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique. As per reports, Shakira filed for a divorce from her partner after she got to know about his affairs. However, ever since their divorce, a big name in the tennis world is being linked with Shakira.
There are rumors making the rounds that Shakira once had a secret relationship with tennis legend Rafael Nadal. There is no denying that both are legends in their field and have very attractive personalities. However, what is interesting to note is the fact that Nadal has been in a long relationship with his now-wife María Francisca.
In fact, Nadal started dating María in 2005, and have been together ever since. The couple got engaged at the start of 2019 and were married by the end of the year. In 2022, the couple welcomed their first son and named him Rafael.

The rumors of the secret affair between Nadal and Shakira started making rounds in 2009. The reason for that is the music video of Shakira’s song Gypsy. Nadal collaborated with the Columbian singer for the music video which involved some intimate scenes.
The chemistry shared by the two in the video led to rumors of their affair. In one of the interviews at that time, Nadal was asked about his girlfriend’s reaction to the video. However, he was not too concerned by the question and shrugged it off like he always does.
When interviewed about it, he simply said, “No problem, that’s part of the job.” Nadal never bothered to give clarity on the rumors. It could be because he didn’t want to give fodder to fake news. Apart from a few rumors here and there, there is nothing to confirm that Nadal had a secret affair with Shakira. All we can for sure is that he is a happy part of a happy family now with a supporting wife.
