Stefanos Tsitsipas did not have the best start to his season. The Greece international suffered a defeat in the very first game that he played in the 2022 season. He and his team faced Argentina in the ATP Cup here in Australia. With a 3-0 loss in group D, the road for Greece to make it into the semi-finals seems to have faded away. They lost all the three matches that they played against a strong Argentinean side.
Despite a bad performance in the cup, world number 4, Stefanos Tsitsipas remains hopeful that he can do better in the upcoming Australian Open.
The Australian Open is all set to start from the 17th of January. Top players like Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, and others will contest for the title. The defending champion Novak Djokovic’s participation is still in doubt after the Serbian refused to clear his vaccination status.

Stefanos Tsitsipas on return
Tsitsipas was “in a lot of pain” after playing in the doubles on Saturday, but after Monday’s loss he was only “in a little bit of pain”. He said that he has enough time to recover. Also, he mentioned that this injury is something that he has never had before.
“That is enough [time to recover], I believe,” he said. “But I haven’t had [this kind of injury] before, so I don’t know.“I think if I take the right precautions and follow what my doctor says, then I can see myself performing at 100% at the Australian Open.” he said at the conference.
Stefanos Tsitsipas who could not lay his hands on a grand slam had a good 2021 year. The form that he has shown in recent times makes him a favorable candidate who can win the Australian Open. It will now be interesting to see if he could fully recover and make it in time before the Australian Open begins.
The Greek team will play their final match of the group against Georgia With 2 losses already, they have been eliminated from the cup. They would now like to end their campaign with a win on Georgia.
