Draymond Green recently revealed that he kept the best interests of the Golden State Warriors ahead of his own. As the majority of NBA fans should be aware, Draymond is a veteran for the Warriors and has been with the team throughout his entire career.
Since he has seen a great deal of success with the team and is also considered to be their most vocal leader and enforcer, it is clear that Draymond has quite a lot of influence over the Warriors. During a recent podcast, Green revealed that he weighed in on the trade decisions that GSW was looking to make this offseason. With that being said, let us take a closer look and find out more.
Draymond Green weighed in on bad trades that the Warriors should avoid
The Warriors are simply not in a good position at this point in time. After all, they were eliminated by the Sacramento Kings during the play-in tournament last season. Given that the team still has a prime Steph Curry playing at an elite level, one would assume that Draymond wants the franchise to do whatever it takes in order to get better. However, he revealed that the truth was quite different.
“We was just about to make some trades last week and I told them straight up like that trade don’t help me. Like it’ll help me right now these last couple of years with Steph but I’ve always spoken to you all from the place of what’s best for the organization. I won’t stop now. That’s a bad trade. Like don’t do that trade. I disagree with it although it’s going to help me right now…”
Draymond Green says the Warriors nearly made short-term trades beneficial to him and Steph but harmful in the long run, and he advised against them
“That’s a bad trade, don’t do that trade.”

Draymond Green claiming to have enough influence over the Golden State Warriors to control their decisions might seem far-fetched. However, it is certainly possible that he was asked to share his opinion and managed to convince the upper management against making a few unknown trades.
The Golden State Warriors added Buddy Hield to their roster this offseason
The statements made by Draymond Green have implications that he may not have seen coming. After all, the Warriors added Buddy Hield to their roster to replace Klay Thompson as the shooting guard. It sounds like Draymond believes bringing in Hield changes nothing for the Warriors and that they have not made any real trades.
Given that Buddy has been one of the most efficient long-distance shooters in recent times, one should wonder how he felt after hearing Draymond’s words. If the Warriors go deeper into the playoffs next season, Draymond’s statements that they did not make any moves and listened to him will be invalidated.
