SUMMARY
- Shortly after UFC 298, Dana White has finally made the announcement for UFC 300 main event.
- The UFC President has confirmed that Alex Pereira will defend the light heavyweight title against former champion Jamahal Hill.
Just as UFC 298 has wrapped up, Dana White is here with a major announcement about UFC 300! While fans are still recovering from the shock of Ilia Topuria knocking out Alexander Volkanovski to become the new UFC featherweight champion, they can now look forward to the UFC 300 main event which will feature one of the most exciting striking match-ups.
In the marquee event, the UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira will take on the former champion Jamahal Hill. Hill, who had to relinquish the title due to an injury, will return to lay claim on the throne. Pereira, on the other hand, will have his first title defense against the Hill, who will be hungry to make a lasting impression and regain the title that he never lost.

After moving up to 205lbs, Pereira took on Jiri Prochazka for the vacant title. While many expected Jiri to manhandle “Poatan,” the former UFC middleweight champion proved everyone wrong and won the the bout via a second round TKO at UFC 295. Hill, on the other hand, will return to the Octagon for the first time since UFC 283 where he beat Glover Teixeira.
Dana White confirms Alex Pereira vs Jamahal Hill for UFC 300
There was a lot of speculation about whether Conor McGregor could make his much-anticipated return at UFC 300 or not. Not just Conor, many other stars have also teased their return to the card such as Israel Adesanya. Recently, Izzy’s coach also added that “The Last Stylebender” could return at the milestone event to challenge Dricus du Plessis for the middleweight title.

However, UFC president Dana White has put all the speculations to bed as he confirms that Alex Pereira vs Jamahal Hill will indeed headline the event in April 2024 inside the T-Mobile Arena.
However, not everyone is happy with the announcement. “That’s not main event 300 worthy Dana,” added one X user. Another fan added reminded of the disappointing UFC 200 main event and added, “The main event of 200 was Nunes vs Tate so I dk what you were expecting.” Someone also added, “This… kinda sucks.” Another UFC fan commented, “I speak for ALL UFC FANS WHEN I SAY UFC 300 is AVERAGE AS F*CK”
