The mystery behind Jose Aldo’s disappearing tattoo at UFC Fight Night 183
Apart from the tombstone tattoo on his left shoulder, Jose Aldo had stepped into the octagon during UFC Fight Night with a brand new tattoo on his chest in December 2020. However, fans were surprised after looking at this tattoo during Aldo’s fight against Marlon Vera because Jose did not have this piece inked during the weigh-ins of UFC Fight Night 183.
After the former featherweight champion secured an emphatic win, the tattoo on his chest appeared to be fading off leading many to believe that it was a temporary tattoo. Jose Aldo confirmed the same after the end of the event. Nevertheless, his decision to get a tattoo all of a sudden hours before the fight backfired as it raised several questions.
Jose Aldo explained the decision behind getting this tattoo and also revealed his intentions in front of the media after the fight. According to the fighter, this temporary tattoo was a logo for a special forces unit in the Brazilian Navy. He wanted to honor them as he sharpened his boxing skills by training there in the past.
Moreover, he tried to prove his innocence by apologizing and clarifying by giving a statement. “The truth, I didn’t know if I needed permission because it’s the Navy Seals. I put it there in the hotel before I came here, and I warmed up for three hours without a shirt. Nobody told me anything. I don’t think it’s a problem because it doesn’t have any sponsor information. If I caused any problems, I apologize.”
