WWE legend Undertaker recently gave his opinion on which superstar should be the one to dethrone WWE’s top champion Roman Reigns. Talking to Ariel Helwani of BT Sports, the WWE Hall of Famer discussed some potential names who could take down the Tribal Chief.
He feels that WWE should find the right person to take on the responsibility of carrying the company’s top championship. The legend also admitted that the current challenger Cody Rhodes feels like a logical person to achieve the feat.
“At this point, it’s gotta be the right person (to dethrone Roman Reigns) and one, it’s gotta be somebody that you trust and you know is not gonna flake off and do something because there’s a lot of time and money invested in this whole thing at this point. I think Cody [Rhodes] with the momentum that he had, I think that would be the logical guy, and Sami’s a dark horse… It’s gotta be somebody that they have a lot of faith in and knows is going to be here for the long haul.” Undertaker said. Roman Reigns is set to defend his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship against the 2023 men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39. Due to his WrestleMania track record, Reigns will head into the match as the favorite but Rhodes’ impressive recent form could turn out to be a stumbling block in Reigns’ path.
The Undertaker wanted Roman Reigns to end his unbeaten WrestleMania streak
Undertaker shockingly lost his undefeated WrestleMania streak in 2014 after Brock Lesnar pinned him. WWE boss Vince McMahon admitted in the past that it was his decision to let Brock go over Taker.
WWE have officially named Brock Lesnar ending the Undertaker’s undefeated streak as the greatest #WrestleMania moment of all time.

The Phenom shared his reaction to the streak ending while talking to Ariel Helwani. Taker admitted that Lesnar didn’t need the win to elevate him to stardom as he was already an established star. The veteran superstar also said that Roman Reigns ending the streak would’ve been ideal instead of Lesnar.
“I don’t think Brock needed it. Brock was a major attraction and he was a star. I don’t know that it enhanced him anymore. I think it would have been great for Roman (Reigns) if Brock hadn’t already done it. It would have been a huge thing for Roman. But I don’t know that it meant the same to Brock as it would have meant to Roman, or anybody else who’d have done it,” he said.
Roman Reigns was able to get his win against The Undertaker at WrestleMania when the two faced off in 2017. The match was very underwhelming as Taker himself admitted that he hated the match.
The duo then had a brief run as the tag team “Graveyard Dogs” in 2019. They defeated the team of Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon in The Undertaker’s last-ever tag team match in his career. The Deadman announced his retirement in 2020 after his win against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022 by his former boss Vince McMahon.
