UFC president Dana White jumped on the Mike Swick Podcast and shared his thoughts on various topics. However, one that we would like to bring your attention to is White’s views on the Diaz brothers during the early days, and his thoughts on Nick Diaz and Nate Diaz right now.
It’s common knowledge that UFC president Dana White always had a hard time dealing with the Diaz brother considering their association with weed, and their upfront attitude that was often seen as “anti-authority.”
Speaking to his good friend Mike Swick, White revealed his thoughts on Nick Diaz and looked back at the infamous incident where Nick Diaz missed the highly anticipated press conference in the lead-up to his fight against Georges St-Pierre.
“You know, it depends on the person. I don’t ever expect fighters to be perfect. I expect them to be as professional as they can be. By professional I mean, making weight, showing up on time on the stuff that we have to do. But, on the flip side, there are so many different guys, there are so many different personalities that I might not love that they necessarily do, but the fans do.”
“The Diaz brothers, their anti-authority, and stuff like that, these used to drive me crazy when I was younger. Look at what it turned them into. They are huge superstars. At the end of the day, they are quirky in their ways, but they are really not bad guys. They are not really hard to deal with.”

“At the time when Nick wasn’t showing up for press conferences and stuff, Nick was going through real sh**, like Nick has anxiety issues and stuff like that. What he was going through was real. And all that stuff has what made them who they are, and made them as popular as they are.” White said about the Diaz brothers.
Dana White shares his thoughts on the Diaz brothers
White’s reply came in response to Swick’s question on what he hates the most about his athletes. Needless to say, Dana White, who is the promoter expects his fighters to show up and fulfill their media obligations.
In the past, he has cited his concerns with both Nick Diaz and Nate Diaz. However, over the past few years, the UFC president has seemed to find an understanding with the Diaz brothers, and stated that they are not “hard to deal with.”
Needless to say, over the years, due to the extremely outspoken nature of the Diaz brothers, they have become the villain of the promotion in many eyes, however, White argues that the “Diaz brothers are not really bad guys.” and it is their nature and the stuff they do that has brought them immense success.
Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz are widely regarded as two of the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, and their impact on the sport of MMA has been nothing less than spectacular.
