WWE Backlash 2024 took place on May 4, 2024, at the LDLC Arena in DĂ©cines-Charpieu in the Metropolis of Lyon, France. It was a power-packed show and featured several noteworthy matches. The Premium Live began with The Bloodline defeating Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. Thereafter, Bayley retained the WWE Women’s Championship against Naomi and Tiffany Stratton.
In the next match of the night, Damian Priest retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso. The next match surprised the fans as Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defeated The Kabuki Warriors to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Finally, in the highly anticipated main event of the night, Cody Rhodes defeated AJ Styles to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Thus, it can be understood that the match was highly entertaining. However, now it seems WWE Backlash 2024 has set a new record. Backlash 2024 holds the record for the largest gate of any arena show in the history of WWE. The attendance was reported to be 11,628. In addition to that, the SmackDown before Backlash also broke a record.

The episode of Friday Night SmackDown before Backlash 2024 became the highest-grossing SmackDown of all time. It broke the record, which was set four weeks ago in Philadelphia. In addition to that, during SmackDown before Backlash, the crowd was so electric and so loud that they received a noise level warning for reaching 100 dB.
However, the audience during Backlash was even more loud and excited. With that, the Backlash crowd broke SmackDown’s decibel record. The sound reached 115 dB during the Premium Live Event. Meanwhile, HHH talked about their experience at Backlash France during the press conference.

He said, “Want to thank LDLC Arena for being an incredible host for the time we were here. It has been an amazing experience. The biggest thing I want to do is thank the fans. What an incredible experience”.
He mentioned that they had to turn off the speakers because the crowd was so loud that they were unable to hear each other at the arena. Finally, the Chief Content Officer of WWE thanked France for the response and reception. Thus, it can be understood that Backlash was not only enjoyed by the fans, but it also made history.
Triple H addressed the record set during WWE Backlash 2024
As mentioned before, WWE Backlash 2024 broke the record for the largest gate in WWE history. Meanwhile, while talking to the fans and media during the Backlash press conference, Triple H addressed the record set during the Premium Live Event.
He said, “We had the largest gate of any arena show in WWE history tonight. I think that is worth repeating. The largest gate in the history of WWE. That is saying something because we have been doing this for a long time.”
He added that they have been traveling around the globe, and that’s quite a statement. The Chief Content Officer of WWE also mentioned that he was blown away by the record and was extremely excited.
He then said, “We broke the all-time record obviously for SmackDown which was just set four weeks ago at WrestleMania. So, in this time we are very fortunate to be knocking off record after record. 11,628 in the house tonight.”
Finally, Triple H revealed that they might be back in France for any other Premium Live Event going forward. Thus, it seems even HHH was shocked by the enthusiasm of the fans. With that, it now remains to be seen if more details about Backlash will come into the spotlight in the upcoming days.
