WrestleMania 40 was booked to perfection by Chief Content Officer Triple H, as fans witnessed Cody Rhodes finally finishing his story by winning the Undisputed WWE Championship. The American Nightmare did so by pinning Roman Reigns in one of the most memorable main events in WrestleMania history, and it was just out of this world.
But, before getting his moment at the top, Rhodes had to go through a large number of obstacles, as The Rock, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa all tried to take him out during the high-profile bout against Reigns. Despite all this, Cody got the victory, but before tasting success by defeating Roman, the fan-favorite star was insulted badly by The Tribal Chief.
It happened in the middle of their main event match on WrestleMania 40 Night 2, as Reigns had Cody’s neck on the lowest rope. The Head of the Table was pushing The American Nightmare’s neck downwards during a moment, and that’s when he insulted his arch-rival by saying, “This is my company, you little bi*ch.”
While this r-rated insult was itself noteworthy for the WWE Universe, the thing that made it extra special was Triple H’s reaction to it. As caught in the recently released WrestlerMania 40: documentary, as soon as Roman Reigns said those words, the cameras went on Hunter, who was laughing while sitting in the gorilla. Such a reaction from The Game was probably a hint that he loved what The Tribal Chief did in that spot.
Roman Reigns’ insult to Cody Rhodes is a testament to the changes under Triple H’s regime
Cody Rhodes getting insulted in such a way on The Grandest Stage of Them All is something that nobody would have expected under Vince McMahon’s tenure. When Mr. McMahon was the supreme leader in WWE, such things weren’t really allowed, but things have changed rapidly ever since The Game took over the role of creative leadership in the organization.
Since taking over, Hunter has changed the way the company was being booked, and Reigns’ insult to Cody is a testament to the changes under Triple H’s regime. Not just this, the veteran has also made incredible improvements to the production work, which has been visible since the new team took over the role.
From extraordinary entrances to better quality cameras, The Game has also taken the camera crew to an even better level, and R-rated things have also taken place. But this is probably going to be rapid growth when RAW moves over to Netflix, as WWE won’t have any sort of restrictions under that deal. It would ultimately lead fans to an even better experience, and that’s exactly what they’ve always wished for.
Cody Rhodes shared a beautiful moment with Triple H after winning at WrestleMania XL
While the spot where Cody was insulted has grabbed the attention of fans now, the victory over Roman Reigns gave Rhodes a lot of great memories. In arguably the biggest one of them all, Cody Rhodes shared a beautiful moment with Triple H after winning at WrestleMania XL.
It happened after the top babyfaces from the WWE roster joined Rhodes in his celebrations after winning the Undisputed Championship. After them, The Game also made his way to the ring and hugged The American Nightmare, which was obviously a historic moment for the promotion. In fact, Hunter also raised Cody’s hand to officially mark the start of a brand new era under the leadership of Paul Levesque.
All in all, this interaction between Cody Rhodes and Triple H showed the kind of importance that victory had for the future of the promotion. Moreover, it also showcased to the WWE Universe that the company sees Cody as their future, and The American Nightmare has been pretty successful in maintaining his reputation throughout his ongoing title run in WWE.
