What an event UFC 253 has been so far. We have seen some stellar performances and a lot more is still to come. In the main card of UFC 253, UFC flyweight Kai Kara France took on the up and coming star Brandon Royval.
Kai Kara France was the favorite going into the fight and rightfully so. This was the second UFC fight for Brandon Royval and Kai Kara France is a strong contender at the flyweight division.
And the first round showed how good Kai Kara France is. He knocked down Brandon Royval twice in the first round. It was obvious that Kai Kara France had a power advantage over Brandon Royval. However, Royval had the speed advantage.

He recovered from the early damage and came back in the second round. After a phenomenal round 1, Brandon Royval picked up the pace and went for a guillotine. Kai Kara France tried to get out of the submission, but the fight went to the ground.

And Royval readjusted the submission to ensure he gets the victory. Though Kai Kara France tried his best to get out of the submission there was not much he could do as the submission was perfectly executed by Royval.
In the end, Royval picked up the submission victory after the tap at 48 seconds of round 2. Heading into the fight, Kai Kara France was ranked number 7 in the UFC flyweight division and Royval was on rank 9.
Brandon Royval makes a statement on his second UFC fight
With this win, we can expect Royval to move up to rank 6 or 7. In the post-fight interview, Royval even said that he wants a top 5 UFC flyweight next. Despite such a short time in UFC, Brandon Royval has done some incredible things in the division as he gets one step closer to the flyweight title.
The UFC flyweight division does not have too many strong contenders and if Royval keeps up his winning streak he will find himself in the title picture very soon for sure.
