There has been a lot of speculation whether or not Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier will meet inside the octagon at UFC 254. After reports emerged that both the former Interim Champions will take on each other at UFC 254, fight fans were left ecstatic about the potential match-up. However, Poirier revealed that he won’t be fighting Ferguson next after failing to come to terms with the UFC. Poirier stated that he is a “prizefighter, and the prize needs to be right.” Soon after this Tony Ferguson took to Twitter and urged UFC President Dana White “to pay the man,” exciting fight fans once again. However, Dana White in a recent interview stated that they are looking for a new opponent for Ferguson, and that the promotion is not even trying to salvage the fight.

Amidst confusion regarding Ferguson’s next opponent, many big names got thrown into the mix, including Michael Chandler, Dan Hooker, and Paul Felder. After Dana White stated that Poirier is trying to run away from Ferguson by citing excuses, Poirier sent a stern reply. “I want that fight.”

Dustin Poirier vs Tony Ferguson is an exciting match-up. Earlier, Khabib Nurmagomedov had also teased a potential showdown between Poirier and Ferguson as he teased the rumored stacked UFC 254. In a #1 contender’s match for the UFC Lightweight Championship, both Ferguson and Poirier could be looking at another opportunity to fight for the gold. Additionally, it can give Ferguson a shot at the belt, having never fought for the title despite accumulating 12 fight win-streak at the lightweight division.
