The world has its new heavyweight champion. Francis Ngannou beat Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 260 to become the new undisputed UFC heavyweight champion.
With an impressive victory, Francis Ngannou has avenged his loss against Stipe Miocic. And he has also shut down all the criticism on his skillsets. Ngannou looked better than ever before. He looked like a champion tonight as he dethrones the greatest heavyweight of all time.
Francis Ngannou was patient and accurate this time. Instead of swinging for the fences, he made sure that he does not overcommit himself and land the big shots here and there. Ngannou landed nasty leg kicks, huge blows that would have put any other heavyweights to sleep but Miocic, and he showed good takedown defense.
It was just not the night for Stipe Miocic. He could not get going and landed only 12 strikes in the entire fight. The smaller cage and the weight disadvantage certainly played a role. The reach advantage of Francis also made a huge impact as Miocic could not close in distance to land his shots. He took some nasty bombs from Ngannou and in the end, he was Knocked out stiff with a left hook.
Stipe Miocic did not show up for post-fight interviews as he was taken backstage for medical attention. Though he stood up a few seconds after the fight was over fans were still concerned about his well-being.

Fortunately, the former heavyweight champion is doing well as per the recent post by his wife, Ryan Marie Carney. She posted “All is well. Still my hero!”
What’s next for Stipe Miocic?
Miocic suffered a devastating loss at UFC 260. It’s needless to say that he will be medically suspended for at least six months. If Ngannou vs Jones happens towards the end of this year then we can expect Miocic to have another shot at the title next year. It’s very likely that Miocic will take a long break to recover and he will be aiming to fight for the title when he comes back.

Though Francis Ngannou vs Jon Jones is the fight to make next whether UFC can book this fight is still uncertain. Jones and White have been trading insults after the fight regarding the financial aspect of a potential fight with Ngannou. This fight has already fallen apart once due to the same reason and it won’t be a surprise if this fight does not get booked for later this year.
