Kamaru Usman looked absolutely incredible against arguably one of the finest strikers in the history of mixed martial arts in the form of Jorge Masvidal. It was a heated build-up to the fight, however, after everything was said and done, it was Usman who triumphed over Gamebred to emerge victoriously and successfully defend the UFC’s welterweight championship.
In the process, Kamaru Usman became the first fighter in the history of MMA to secure a KO win over Jorge Masvidal. The last time Masvidal was finished inside the Octagon was due to a triangle choke almost a decade ago. With this victory, Usman registered his 14th straight win inside the UFC Octagon and thereby overtaking Georges St-Pierre for the most number of consecutive victories in the UFC’s welterweight division. Kamaru Usman is just behind Jon Jones, who is currently enjoying a 16-fight win streak.

UFC 261: Kamaru Usman viciously knocks out Jorge Masvidal
Kamaru Usman looked absolutely phenomenal, landing a takedown in the very first round. He looked in more control, however, Masvidal looked dangerous as ever going into the second round. Both the fighters landed several counter shots, however, it was a loaded right hand that knocked the light out of Masvidal, who dropped on the canvas with his legs limp on the ground.
Usman followed it up with some vicious shots, and it was enough for the referee to call the fight. An ecstatic Usman climbed the cage and screamed in joy having finished Jorge Masvidal. Needless to say, the crowd of Florida also erupted in unison, who were booing him back less than ten minutes ago, as the Nigerian Nightmare further cemented his legacy as arguably one of the greatest of all time.
