What are the adjustments that Conor McGregor has to make from his rematch against Dustin Poirier?

Conor McGregor was knocked out for the first time in his MMA career when he faced Dustin Poirier in a rematch at UFC 257. Looking back at the rematch it was quite surprising that The Irishman got knocked out. This is because he was constantly touching The Diamond with his punches and it looked as if ‘The Notorious’ would knock Dustin Poirier out.

However, Poirier managed to eat all the shots from The Irishman and was slowly and steadily working his way with the leg kicks. Due to McGregor’s boxing approach in this fight, his right leg was up for grabs and Poirier didn’t miss this opportunity. He was constantly using the calf kicks and damaging McGregor’s lead leg. In the second round, all the calf kicks made a significant impact as Conor McGregor was not able to move properly. As a result, Dustin Poirier took advantage and knocked him out.

Therefore while preparing for the trilogy fight, Conor McGregor has to make sure that he makes an adjustment to avoid the leg kicks. Even though McGregor was able to get back early from the takedown in their rematch, he still has to work on his takedown defense for the trilogy fight as Dustin Poirier will use this as a weapon. Nonetheless, this fight will be very exciting and it has the potential to be one of the best fights of the year as both the fighters will make adjustments to become much better fighters.
