Kai Kara-France knocked out Cody Garbrandt in the 4th minute of the first round. The fight was a disaster for Cody as he failed to put up a decent fight in his flyweight debut.
Cody started with staying outside the center, giving Kai control of the center. However, Garbrandt decided to go through an inside leg kick to connect with a left hand. But, only to absorb a huge overhand right. This made Cody go down and he wasn’t able to recover from that completely until the end of the fight.
When Cody tried to get up Kara dropped another fiery right hand with a follow-up left and a furious uppercut. This was enough to keep the former champ down and thus Kara won the fight. Even though Cody was looking strong despite the weight cut down, he was unable to deal with the speed coming back at him from Kara-France
Kai Kara-France Demands to fight the winner of Moreno vs Figueiredo next:
This quick loss raises a lot of questions for Cody. Was cutting down the right decision for Cody? or has it affected his ability to absorb strikes. For a former champion of his caliber is disheartening for fight fans to watch him losing like this.
On the contrary, Kai proved his worth and answered a lot of questions as he went on to say .” I told you I was going to answer a lot of questions tonight. That’s what I did”
“I want the winner out of that fight ( between Moreno and Figueiredo). 2022, you’ll be seeing the new flyweight world champion right here“. Kara shared his plan for the title shot in the year 2022.
Kara has won 3 of his past four fights which includes wins against Tyson Nam and RogerioBontorin. Well, if it’s enough of a resume to get the title shot or not, only UFC management can decide. However, with this loss, Cody is 1-5 in his last six fights. With such an unwanted record it’s hard to predict his future on the promotion.
