UFC 273 is one of the most stacked cards in recent history. Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will go up against The Korean Zombie in the main event to complete his third title defence in a row. However, that is not the only championship fight on the card.
The Bantamweight wight title will also be on the line as the undisputed champion Aljamain Sterling will fight the interim champion Petr Yan to determine who the rightful king of the division is. Fan favourite Khamzat Chimaev will also fight on this card as he takes on Gilbert Burns in a fight that has title implications.

UFC 273: Vinc Pichel vs Mark Madsen, Fight Breakdown
Vinc Pichel is a true veteran of the sport. He made his MMA debut in 2009 and went undefeated until his UFC debut in 2012. However, Pichel did not lose too many fights after that. After beating Anthony Njokuani in 2014, he took a break of 3 years from MMA.
Following his return in 2013, Vinc only lost to one of the elite lightweights, Gregor Gillespie. Currently, the 39-year old is on a 3-fight winning streak, with his last win coming against Austin Hubbard last year in August. His opponent this Saturday is Mark Madsen.
Madsen has a decorated background in amateur wrestling. His preferred style of wrestling was Greco-Roman. Mark managed to secure 5th place in 2012’s London Olympics. But he managed to win the silver medal in 2016’s Rio Olympics in Brazil.
Although he made his pro-MMA debut in 2013, Madsen took a few years off to pursue his wrestling dreams. He returned to MMA in 2018. The Danish wrestler got into the UFC in 2013. Similar to Pichel, Mark is also on a 3-fight winning streak and is undefeated.
Neither fighter has been very active lately as they have fought once every year since 2019. However, in terms of ground skills, Mark Madsen is much superior to his opponent. At the same time, he has a great deal of power behind his punches as well.

Pichel is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As a result, his ground skills can not match that of Madsen’s on paper. He will look to avoid takedowns to have success in the fight. The 37-year old wrestler, on the other hand, will look to get the second finish of his UFC career and remain unbeaten.
