The women’s featherweight division will be in action this weekend at UFC 275. Ramona Pascual will be fighting Joselyne Edwards in the prelims of the upcoming PPV this Saturday. Joselyne and Ramona both are newcomers to the company with 3 and 1 fight respectively.
Fighting out of Hong Kong, Ramona Pascual made her professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) debut in August of 2016. She defeated Ella Tang via doctor’s stoppage on her MMA debut. Ramona followed it up with another TKO win over Sun Yoo Cheon in the same year.
However, she suffered two back-to-back setbacks against Jennifer Leigh Norris and Janay Harding in 2017. But Pascual bounced back with a win over Seo Woo Jin in December of 2017. It triggered a 4 fight-winning streak that led to her arrival in the UFC.

Can Ramona Pascual get her first UFC win against Joselyne Edwards?

Although the sample size is not much, Pascual’s stats in her first UFC outing was pretty shocking. Overall, she landed 52 strikes with an average of 3.47 strikes per minute. Whereas her opponent out-landed her by 46 strikes. Ramona absorbed 6.53 significant strikes per minute. Which is nearly double what she managed to land. Pascual was also knocked down twice in the fight.
As for her grappling stat, She attempted 10 takedowns and got only 3. On the other hand, Joselyne Edwards is not particularly known for her grappling acumen either. So far, she has been taken down 10 times in her UFC career so far. Edwards possesses a takedown defense of only 47%.
However, Joselyne is a pretty dynamic striker. The 26-year-old lands 3.47 strikes per minute on an average with an accuracy rate of 54%. She has 5 knockout finishes in her career. Although her grappling may be very good defensively, Joselyne also has 3 submission victories as well. In comparison, Ramona holds 4 KO wins and 1 submission win.

It seems more likely that Joselyne Edwards will get the job done. Although she is much younger, Edwards has been fighting on this level pretty consistently for a number of years. Hence, she will be the smart pick to win. However, it will not be surprising if Ramona puts in the performance of a lifetime to walk away with a victory.
The winner of this contest may also be in line for a title shot against the champ Amanda Nunes as the division does not have a recognized ranking system.
