During almost every Jon Jones fight week, MMA fans are certain to witness some sort of controversy or the other, be it popping for steroid abuse or moving an entire event to a new location last minute, or off-air death threats during an interview. The UFC 285 fight week is no different. Just when everyone was praying for Jones’ Heavyweight debut to go smoothly, Drake recently posted this on his Instagram –

According to his IG post, Drake has placed two bets worth $250,000 each, one where he is predicting for Jon to win by submission and one via KO. The submission bet will earn him a good $1.7 million and the KO bet will allow him to welcome $1.3 million.

Based upon several, if not a lot of proofs that the Drake curse is real, fans are worried that Jon will be no different than Drake’s past victims during their respective MMA and Boxing contests. Drake has had a history of ruining various MMA bouts, some of them being on the grandest of stages. Every time, well, most of the time Drake has bet on a fighter, he/she has automatically gone to lose their upcoming fight.

The most recent fighter to have been affected by this was Youtuber-turned-Boxer Jake Paul. Drake lost a whopping $400,000 when he predicted for Paul to defeat Tommy Fury during their fight in Saudi Arabia. He also lost a reported $2 million when he predicted a win for ‘Izzy’ over his Brazilian arch-nemesis Alex Pereira.

However, that is not all, fans claim that just by bringing his presence at the UFC 229 weigh-ins alongside Conor McGregor, he wrote the ill fate for the Irishman to lose his grudge match against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Fans react to Drake betting on Jones, believe he will lose for sure now

Ever since Drake made his bet public, fans have started speculating that Jon Jones’s fate has already been sealed and it isn’t for the better. While superstition is the least of things to seem to bother an MMA fan, the cloud of the infamous Drake curse has seemed to loom over the MMA community for quite some time now. Fans have given their immediate reactions, with most predicting for Jones to lose his heavyweight debut.

NOOOOOOO DRAKE WHY https://t.co/1LYrL6UASx

This the ultimate test for that curse 😭

Well, you all know who to bet if you want to win. Don’t forget the curse of Drake!

Wish this guy would leave the sport alone

Congratulations to the new UFC Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane.

Will the Drake curse hurt Jones’ chances of becoming the UFC Heavyweight champion? or will he survive to be one of the very few individuals to get out of this unharmed? The fans are in for a treat either way when the giants throw down at UFC 285.
