One of the most delightful personalities in MMA, Amanda Ribas, is set to make her return at UFC 285. She will fight in the prelims of the PPV, which will feature two championship fights in the headlining spots. Alexa Grasso will be challenging Valentina Shevchenko for the women’s flyweight belt in the co-main event. The main event will see Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane going at it for the vacant UFC heavyweight title.
Although Amanda Ribas is one of the most cheerful characters outside the Octagon, she is a completely different beast inside of it. In her last fight, Katlyn Chookagian beat her via split decision. It was an extremely close fight, but Chookagian beat her by a narrow decision in the end. However, Ribas will look to leave the disappointing result behind her as she takes on Viviane Araujo.
Flyweights are weighed in and ready to go for this Saturday’s #UFC285 prelims.

Viviane Araujo narrowly missed out on a chance to fight for the 125 lbs title against Valentina Shevchenko. She lost to Alexa Grasso in her last fight and Grasso went on to have the title shot against the champ in the co-main event of the same card. So both Araujo and Ribas are coming into the fight with heartbreaking losses. So who has the better chance to win this Saturday? Let’s find out!

Araujo vs Ribas: Fight Breakdown
As per UFC stats, Amanda Ribas lands 2.19 takedowns on her opponents per fight. She also has good striking accuracy as she manages to hit her opponent 4.46 times per minute. It just goes to show why Ribas was unbeaten in her first 4 fights in the UFC. But, since the KO loss to Marina Rodriguez, her career has stalled a bit as she finds herself in the prelims.
Although Amanda has great numbers, Viviane Araujo also matches her stats pretty well. In terms of striking, Viviane lands 4.82 strikes per minute. If fans pair that with the average of 2.03 takedowns per fight, it makes her an almost perfectly matched opponent for Ribas. Plus, both fighters have 11 wins in their careers with 3 KOs and 4 submission wins each, respectively! If there was ever a 50-50 fight, it is this one.

But one aspect where Viviane Araujo trumps Amanda Ribas is the size. Although it is minuscule, Araujo will have the reach and the size advantage. Ribas does have some problems with her chin. If Viviane Araujo can manage to land a few decent strikes, she can put Amanda in a lot of trouble.
Plus with her better reach, she can also stay away from Ribas’ striking and grappling range as well. So Araujo will most definitely be the favorite for this contest.
