UFC Female Bantamweight Champion, Amanda Nunes returns to action this Saturday at UFC 289. She will defend the title against Irene Aldana in the main event of the PPV on June 10. In the co-main event, Beneil Dariush takes on the former UFC lightweight champ, Charles Oliveira. It is a massive fight that will potentially determine the next challenger for Islam Makhachev’s lightweight title.
The event is also special for its venue as well. For the first time since 2019, UFC is returning to Canada as the event is taking place in the Rogers Arena in Vancouver. So there is no wonder that Canadian MMA fans will be buzzing to see some of the best fighters in the business. Hence, the question is, which songs will the fighters use during their walkouts this Saturday to energize the fans? Let’s find out!
Which song did Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana use at UFC 289?
Amanda Nunes is regarded as the greatest female MMA fighter of all time with wins over Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey, and Cris Cyborg. In her recent title fights, the choice of songs has also reflected her mentality of being the GOAT as well. During her co-main event bout at UFC 259 against Megan Anderson, Amanda Nunes decided to use “American Oxygen” by Rihanna.
In her following bout against Julianna Pena at UFC 269, Nunes came out to “Troca de Calcada” by Marilla Mendonca. The fight turned out to be extremely memorable as Pena handed Nunes her first loss in ages.
However, Nunes pretty much avenged her loss in the following bout at UFC 277 and Amanda reverted back to “American Oxygen” by Rihanna once more. Aside from that, “The Lioness” has also used “The Champion” by Carrie Underwood many times as well.
Her opponent this Saturday, Irene Aldana, used “El Sinaloense” by Ana Barbara for her fight against Holly Holm in October 2020. In the next fight at UFC 264 against Yana Santos, Irene used “Malaguena Salerosa” by Avenged Sevenfold.
What songs did Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush walk out to at UFC 289?
Former UFC lightweight champ Charles Oliveira is a fan favorite and he often lights up the arena with joy during his walkouts. For his title-winning fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 262, Oliveira walked out to “O Hino” by Fernandinho. He then defended the title against Dustin Poirier at UFC 269 and used “Escrito” by Xande de Pilares as his walkout music.
In the bout against Justin Gaethje at UFC 274, “Do Bronx” used “O Hino” by Fernandinho once more. At UFC 280, where he lost the 155 lbs title to Islam Makhachev, Oliveira used the same song once more.
Beneil Dariush, the opponent for Charles Oliveira this Saturday, walked out to “Still Rolling Stones” by Lauren Daigle in February 2021, to fight Diego Ferreira. Dariush then fought Tony Ferguson at UFC 262 and used the same song for his entrance and the trend continued at UFC 280 for the bout against Mateusz Gamrot. So fans can expect to hear the same song at UFC 289 as well.
