For the most part, the UFC 300 main event still remains a mystery to the fans. Thus, the fans take to social media, sharing their thoughts on a potential fight. With fake rumors, cryptic messages, and subtle hints from the fighters, there was a real belief that it could happen. Although the rumors have been dispelled, many can’t help but wonder how the two would stack up.
Alex Pereira: record, height & weight
For the most part, Alex Pereira is one of the most ambitious fighters the UFC has seen in a while. Having just arrived at the promotion in 2021, Pereira has secured titles in two different weight classes by 2023. Now one of the UFC’s biggest names, the Brazilian has garnered a global audience and a diehard fanbase.
Since his MMA debut in 2015, ‘Poatan‘ has a 9-2 record, showing his brief yet impactful stint in the game. A former kickboxing world champion, Alex has taken to the new sport like duck to water. Boasting a 79 in reach and having a massive 6 ft 4 in frame has considerably helped the fighter in his quest as well.
Following his light heavyweight title win at UFC 295, Pereira established himself as one of the very few to achieve two-divisional success. Now, it appears as though he has his sights set on a third, with rumors of a move up to heavyweight. Whilst his coach, Glover Teixeira, has echoed the same, Alex still has a lot of work to do before moving up.
Tom Aspinall: record, height & weight
Coming to his potential opponent, we have Tom Aspinall, who has recently become a much-talked-about fighter. Having also won his interim heavyweight title at UFC 295, the Englishman has attracted a lot of interest from the fanbase. One of the swiftest heavyweights in the game, the fleet-footed fighter has wowed fans from all over the world. Despite a devastating knee injury in 2022, the 30-year-old made an emphatic return to the sport.
Although the undisputed title eludes him at the moment, Aspinall remains one of the best in his division. Standing at a hulking 6ft 4 in with a 78 in reach, Tom has been labeled a ‘freak of nature’. Having defied the expectations of what a heavyweight should be, the future is bright for the young champ. Although he welcomes a fight against Alex Pereira with open arms, he believes that their fight would be unfair.
Being the bigger man by quite some margin, Tom is not alone in believing that he could maul Pereira easily. As such, almost everyone is on the same page regarding the outcome of a potential fight. With that said, Aspinall welcomes any challenges, trusting himself to come out on top. As for now, he will have to sit and wait for his division to play out.
