In his recent statements, Chael Sonnen spoke about the upcoming bout between Nate Diaz and Jake Paul. He compared the event to the legendary wrestling matchup between The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Veteran mixed martial artist Jake Shields revealed that Nate Diaz might consider boxing Jake Paul if the paycheck is heavy. Jake Shields stated:
“Jake Shields weighing in on the possibility of Nate Diaz and Jake Paul. And that is a Rock versus Stone Cold matchup when you come down to who’s the bigger star, who needs who more. That is your partner.”

Who is the Bigger star? Nate Diaz or Jake Paul
Chael, while speaking about the fight between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz, shared who he considers the bigger pay-per-view star between the two.
In an edition of Beyond the Fight, Sonnen stated that Paul’s rematch with Tyron Woodley wasn’t quite successful. The match bagged less than 65000 PPV buys.
Advising Paul to accept the challenge, Sonnen said : “Jake Paul could really use Nate Diaz right now. Having one bad night isn’t enough to go into absolute panic mode. But having a bad night in the world of pay-per-view; it’s a problem. One bad night is a problem.”
Chael Sonnen believes it’s quite difficult for a fighter to reclaim the fame they earned after a failed Pay Per View. Although, he does believe that Jake still has a chance to regain what he lost.
Sonnen also claimed that he pleaded with Paul not to step into the ring with his longtime rival Tommy Fury. In his opinion, the matchup will turn out to be a box office failure.
He referred to ‘The Problem Child’ as King Midas. According to him, everything he touched turned to gold for about 18 months up until his rematch against Woodley.
Sonnen believes Paul can regain his momentum but there’s a need for strategizing and being tactical while moving forward.
He hinted that the 25-year-old gained more fame than Nate last year, but currently, Diaz is the bigger star.
