Conor McGregor announced his retirement from MMA soon after returning to the octagon after a year hiatus since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. McGregor made his much-anticipated return to the octagon at UFC 244. He picked up an incredible TKO win over Donald Cerrone at the Welterweight division to announce his return. In the process, Conor McGregor became the first mixed martial artist to pick up TKO victories across featherweight, lightweight, and the welterweight division.
While it did look like Conor McGregor was aiming at the UFC Lightweight Championship next, everything came downhill after McGregor announced his retirement from the sport. Before taking the decision, McGregor took to Twitter to share his concerns. McGregor claimed that he wanted to fight Justin Gaethje for the #1 contender’s match for the UFC Lightweight Championship. However, Gaethje showed no interest in facing McGregor after incredible victor over former interim Champion Tony Ferguson at UFC 249.
Conor McGregor announces return to boxing
Conor McGregor revealed in a recent post on Instagram that he will return to boxing. However, the details of the bout aren’t finalized yet. McGregor has teased a super-fight against Manny Pacquiao. In a cryptic tweet on Twitter, McGregor captioned “I accept” in Pacquiao’s native togue, Philippines. With the recent announcement from McGregor himself, it looks like we will see Conor McGregor in the boxing ring sooner rather than later.

McGregor’s return to boxing is definitely great news for sports fans around the world. While it’s not confirmed whether McGregor will face Manny Pacquiao next. However, if the bout does capitalize, it will inarguably go down as the biggest event of the year. McGregor’s return to the boxing ring is certain to send fight fans in a hysteria.

Conor McGregor’s last outing inside the boxing ring came against undefeated boxing great Floyd Mayweather. McGregor lost the boxing bout via TKO in the 10th round. However, he put up an incredible performance against probably the greatest boxer of all time. It will be interesting to see Conor McGregor in the boxing ring once again. Only time will tell who will be his next opponent.
