UFC Fight Night co-main event will feature a heavyweight fight between Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Jared Vanderaa that will take place on October 29 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Cortes-Acosta will make his debut in the UFC after impressing Dana White with a first-round knockout victory in DWCS earlier this year. Cortes-Acosta, 31, currently holds a perfect 7-0 professional MMA record and has previously fought in Bellator and LFA. Acosta has pretty solid wrestling defense and can be a real problem standing up when he is aggressive.

Jared Vanderaa, who is 2-5 in the UFC needs a win desperately as he is on a four-fight losing streak. The streak started off by getting TKO’d by Alexandr Romanov, losing a very close decision to Andrew Arlovski, getting submitted by Aleksei Oleinik, and knocked out by Chase Sherman in his last octagon experience earlier this year. Another loss for Vanderaa might get him on the verge of being cut from the organization.

Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs Jared Vanderaa Fight Breakdown
If Vanderaa is getting knocked out by Chase Sherman, his next opponent Cortes-Acosta is a much better striker than any of the previous fighters he has fought and hence Cortes-Acosta could be adjudged as a clear favorite going into the fight. Cortes-Acosta is undefeated and also has boxing experience. Acosta has got very good hands powerful punches. He’s one of those technical brawler fighter that can knock you out with a clean punch or throw a crazy combination that becomes more lethal when you consider the power in his hands.
This is certainly going to be an entertaining fight, as Vanderaa will be looking to get back into the win column and secure his position in the UFC while Cortes-Acosta who has a good chunk of hype behind him will look to start his UFC career with a knockout victory.
