The UFC featherweight division will see some action this weekend as Damon Jackson and Dan Argueta go head to head. The bout between Jackson and Argueta will take place on the preliminary card on Saturday.
However, that is not the only featherweight bout in the event as Dan Ige and Movsar Evloev feature in the co-main event of the night. But the main event will feature a heavyweight clash between Alexander Volkov and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
Nicknamed ‘The Leech’, Damon Jackson has been a part of the UFC for almost 8 years now. He had a peculiar start in the promotion. On his debut, Jackson lost to Yancy Medeiros via submission.
In his following two fights, Damon had a no-contest against Rony Jason and a majority draw against Levan Makashvili. Since then, he has had a record of 11-3 in the company.

Before signing for the UFC, he had four fights in LFA. Dan has beaten the likes of Rodney Mondala, Mairon Santos Alves and Diego Silva in his last 3 fights.

Damon Jackson vs Dan Argueta: Fight Breakdown
Damon Jackson is coming off a 2 fight win streak. He beat Charles Rosa and Kamuela Kirk in his last two fights. Jackson has consistently beaten opponents who are not at the elite level. But every time he has stepped up in competition, Jackson had fell short. His losses to Ilia Topuria and Kevin Aguilar are pieces of evidence of that.
Hence, Damon Jackson is the perfect opponent for Dan Argueta. If Argueta beats Jackson, it is an indication that he is certainly good enough to compete against the better talents of the division. But can he get off to a successful start? Let us find out.

It will be a fight between two grapplers. Damon Jackson has 15 wins via submission while he has stopped 3 of his opponents via strikes. Dan Argueta on the other hand has 4 submission wins and 2 KO wins. Hence, they are both very well matched on paper. But the experience may give a slight advantage to Jackson.

There is a possibility of an early finish if the bout hits the ground. Both are insanely good grapplers. But that may cause them to avoid grappling altogether and keep the bout on the feet. In that case, the fight may go the full distance. The fight is at 145lbs instead of it being at Argueta’s natural weight of bantamweight may just push Damon Jackson to be the favourite to win.
