Joe Solecki vs Alex da Silva Coelho: Fight Breakdown
Although both are coming off losses, Alex da Silva is in the worse position at the moment. He had a lot of hype behind him before coming into the UFC. But his tenure so far has been very disappointing. Solecki on the other hand was on a great run until his last bout. He had dominating wins over Jim Miller, Austin Hubbard and Matt Wiman.

As far as skills are concerned, Alex is much better on paper. He has 13 knockout victories. da Silva has KO wins via both head kicks and strikes. It proves the versatility that he has in his striking. The 26-year-old is a very good grappler as well. Alex has bagged 7 submission wins in his career so far.
Joe Solecki, who has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, is most reliant on his grappling. Although he has a very potent striking game, Solecki’s ground game far exceeds it. Joe has submitted 7 of his opponents, similar to Alex. But unlike da Silva, Joe is much less chaotic in his approach.
Alex da Silva has finished 19 of his opponents within either round 1 or 2. It proves that he starts off his fights with the intention to finish his opponent as soon as possible. Against a crafty opponent like Joe Solecki, that will not be easy to achieve. With a striking defence of 49%, Solecki averages 2.85 takedowns per fight. He has a takedown accuracy of 52%.

Although Alex has a takedown defence of 77%, he was taken down and submitted by the aforementioned Alexander Yakovlev. Hence it is not too difficult to imagine Joe doing the same. Solecki recently submitted Donald Cerrone in a grappling competition as well. Hence, he may just get the job done this Saturday against Alex da Silva as well.
