The UFC returns to Vegas this Saturday after a short weeklong hiatus. The card almost seemed to have fallen apart after one half of the main event, Darren Till had to withdraw due to an injury to his collar bone. In comes “Big Mouth” Kevin Holland and takes up a short notice fight against a dangerous contender like Marvin Vettori to save the day. The prelims on ESPN will feature a heavyweight bout between Yorgan De Castro and a returning Jarjis Danho
Both fighters will be looking to add a much-needed win to their resume to justify a bout with someone in the top 15. Let’s breakdown and analyze how each fighter stands before they enter the octagon.
Yorgan De Castro vs Jarjis Danho Prediction
Yorgan “The Mad Titan” De Castro is looking to bounce back after his string of two losses to Greg Hardy and Carlos Felipe. De Castro is now 2-2 in the UFC (One win in the DWCS) and for a 33-year-old prospect, his next fight may very well decide his future with the company. Though his most recent fights have gone the distance, DeCastro has proven time and again that he holds the power to shut someone’s light off.
His opponent is the returning, Jarjis Danho. Danho had his last MMA fight back in 2016 against Christian Colombo which ended in a majority draw. The Syrian-born, fighting out of Germany was scheduled to fight in 2017, 2019, and 2020, all of which were canceled. Now aged 37, Danho too is looking to get back into the win column. With a 0-1-1 record in the UFC, it’s make it or break it time for the “Man Mountain”. Lucky for him, he does hold the power to break his opponent’s spirit.
With two heavy hitters squaring off, we can expect either of the two things, an all-out brawl or both fighters respecting each other power and getting into an extended feeling-out process. It is to be noted that DeCastro is clearly the more active fighter, who also has a good counter-punching ability. Compared to Danho, who has not been in the octagon for over 5 years and is possibly at the end of his career, it becomes clear who has the advantage on paper.
Though Danho has a puncher’s chance it is unlikely that he will be able to last the full 15 against a more seasoned DeCastro. You can also expect DeCastro to come out guns blazing as a flashy finish gets you into the good graces of the big boss.
