UFC Fight Night: Darren Till vs Derek Brunson features an exciting heavyweight bout in the co-main event. Tom Aspinall vs Sergey Spivak might be the fight that gives us the next potential title challenge of the heavyweight division.
Ciryl Gane ran through the heavyweight division and won the interim heavyweight championship. With only a few years into the sport, Gane achieved tremendous feet. But, what’s more, impressive was the skills he has showcased throughout his UFC journey.
Gane is fast, a striking phenom in MMA, and is insanely athletic. Well, he is not the only heavyweight who can move like a middleweight. Tom Aspinall has been flying under the radar since his UFC debut despite some very impressive victories. But he has a huge opportunity to put the heavyweight division on notice with a statement win in the co-main event of UFC vegas 36. But, can he get the job done against a very tough opponent in Sergey Spivak.
Tom Aspinall vs Sergey Spivak prediction:
In recent times, a few talented fighters from the UK has made an impact on the MMA world. And Tom Aspinall is definitely one of them. So far he has three wins in the UFC with a 100% finish rate.
He showed his insane hand speed and striking against jake Collier on his UFC debut, destroyed Alan Baudot within the first round of their fight, and submitted former heavyweight champion, Andrei Arlovski in his third UFC fight.
Tom Aspinall is not a small heavyweight. But he might be the fastest heavyweight in UFC in terms of movements and striking speed. And this can put a lot of UFC heavyweights in trouble. He also has a solid ground game, which is evident from his submission win over Andrei Arlovski.
But, Tom Aspinall will have his hands full in his next fight as Sergey Spivak is coming off a three-fight winning streak. Spivak will have the size advantage over Aspinall. But, it’s very unlikely that he will do a lot of damage on the feet because Aspinall is the superior striker in this matchup.
Spivak’s grappling and ground game can be a problem for Aspinall. But so far Aspinall has shown good ground game in his MMA career. He trains with UFC middleweight Darren Till. And Team Kaobon certainly takes takedown defense and ground game very seriously. So the fans can expect Aspinall to stop the takedown attempts from Spivak and defend himself if the fight goes to the ground.
But, on the feet, Aspinall can do a lot of damage and even get another TKO win. It’s a fun matchup between two up and comer in the heavyweight division. But, Aspinall is likely to get the job done by TKO.
Tom Aspinall vs Sergey Spivak prediction: Tom Aspinall via TKO
