Former UFC double champ, Conor McGregor is perhaps the most successful fighter in MMA history. He had two of the most dominant victories in UFC title fights at UFC 194 and UFC 205 respectively. While there are fighters who have much better records than the Dublin native, not many MMA fighters can claim to have earned a 9-figure paycheque in their careers. While his hard work is certainly the main reason behind his success, one can not ignore the role Dee Devlin played either.
By now, MMA fans know who Dee Devlin is. She is the mother of Conor’s children and stuck by him through thick and thin. From witnessing the incredible heights of McGregor beating Eddie Alvarez to seeing The Notorious One getting knocked out by Dustin Poirier for the first time at UFC 257, the pair have both enjoyed success and suffered through adversities together. When did Conor McGregor meet Dee Devlin?
Conor McGregor (MMA record 22-6) and Dee Devlin have been together for over 14 years. 2008 was a very significant year in Conor’s life, both personally and professionally. From making his professional MMA debut to meeting Dee for the first time in person, a lot changed in Conor’s life that year. According to a report from The Mirror, McGregor ran into Dee at a nightclub in Dublin shortly after his MMA debut.
While the two were acquaintances before, their interaction at the nightclub was the first time they had a proper discussion. During an interview with VIP Magazine, McGregor revealed that it was he who made the first move toward Devlin. The former featherweight champ also called Dee a “good girl.” But the attraction was mutual as Devlin also revealed that she was smitten with Conor’s charm straight away.
She added, “I suppose it was (an instant connection)! He’s very funny – he always keeps me entertained and makes me laugh… He was already training when I met him, so I really admired his dedication to that.” After their first interaction, the couple committed to each other pretty much right away. Dee started gradually playing a bigger and bigger role behind the scenes.
Alongside coach, John Kavanagh, Dee was one of the most important figures in Conor’s fight camps as she took care of his needs during the fight camps. Devlin was 100% behind Conor’s career and traveled around the world to be with the love of her life. She was present inside the Ericsson Globe Arena in Sweden to see Conor win his UFC debut against Marcus Brimage.
But just like Dee sacrificed a lot to ensure Conor has a smooth fight camp, the Irish superstar also praised Devlin many times in public. He added, “My girlfriend has been there since the start… She has helped me throughout this career. If it wasn’t for her, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today… My girlfriend worked very hard throughout the years and stuck by me when I had essentially absolutely nothing. Conor McGregor and Dee Devlin are the parents of three beautiful children. Their very first child, Conor Jack McGregor, was born on May 5, 2017. Jack has attended many of his father’s events over the years. Not only that, the Irish brawler has also taken Conor Jr to the gym several times, and by the looks of it, the 6-year-old has developed a liking for the sport.
The former lightweight champ also wishes that his elder son follows his footstep and becomes a fighter one day. The couple welcomed their second child, a daughter, on January 4, 2019.
The 2023 documentary called “McGregor Forever” captured the footage of Conor getting the news of having a daughter at a gender reveal party. Conor was incredibly emotional about the prospect of becoming a girl-dad. He named her Croia, which originates from an Irish word, “Croi” which means heart.
It goes to show just how affectionate Conor truly is to his daughter. The latest addition to their family is Rian McGregor, who was born in May 2021. Similar to Conor Jr, McGregor also wants to Rian to continue his legacy in fighting. As previously mentioned, Conor McGregor has been with Dee Devlin since he was 19 years old. In their nearly 15-year relationship, Conor was asked several times about his plans of taking the next big step in their relationship. After having 3 children, Conor and Dee share a very stable bond and seem like they are set to spend the rest of their days together.
But McGregor took the next step to solidify their relationship just before Dee’s 33rd birthday. On the day before Dee’s birthday, McGregor posted a message on his Instagram account with the caption, “What a birthday, my future wife!” The post included a picture of Dee showing off a massive diamond ring, which pretty much confirmed that the couple is engaged.

Talking about his plans for the wedding, Conor revealed to Extratv, “My wedding is going to be extravagant, that’s for damn sure. We are gonna have the best of the best of the best, and then more to the best. We have got to find the location; it’s going to be Ireland, I’m gonna get married in the Emerald Isle, and then figure it out, so it’s a big process. Let’s see what happens, I’m ready for it all.”
However, following the announcement in August 2020, there has been no news about their marriage just yet. But marriage is pretty much in the cards for the Irish couple.
