The UFC is one of the biggest sporting leagues today and it has multiple faces associated with it. Fans recognize Dana White as the president of the company since the early 2000s. However, when it comes to the voice behind the fight commentary, the first name that comes to mind is Joe Rogan. Despite having the likes of Michael Bisping and DC in the broadcast booth, fans will arguably prefer first Rogan over anyone.
During the most recent PPV that the promotion hosted at London’s O2 Arena, fans found Joe absent from his commentating duties. It is worth mentioning though that Rogan has had a renewed contract where he has only signed up for commentating on fights happening in North America. This is also the reason we don’t find him in PPVs overseas.
Besides his UFC designation as a color commentator, he regularly performs stand-up at different comedy clubs in what he now calls home in Austin, Texas. Apart from these two gigs, fans know the 55-year-old as the solo host of arguably the most famous podcast on earth, The Joe Rogan Experience.
Joe Rogan reveals he dodged two “attempted molestation”
On one of the most recent episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Joe welcomed Shane Gillis as the latest guest. Gillis is a stand-up comic and radio personality based out of New York. This isn’t the first time Joe has had a fellow comedian peer on the show. In fact, Joe is known to have a variety of guests on his pod. Right from billionaire Elon Musk to rapper cum entrepreneur Kanye West, Rogan has found himself in some interesting conversations.
During a particular segment of their podcast numbered #1957, Joe and Gillis happened to touch on the topic of real-life molestation encounters that each one of them had experienced so far. Rogan began sharing two such incidents. In one of those two incidents, he nearly stabbed the suspect. He shares, “I dodged two molestation attempts.”
“what did u dodge?” asked Shane.
“Well, I dodge one of them when I was probably seven or eight years old. That [molestation attempt] was the scarier one because I was at the library and I was by myself.”
The American further explains, “And then another time when I was 13, we were hanging around this lake in Jamaica Plain. Jamaica Pond was this place we’d go to fish. and there was this neighboring pond that was slightly smaller. And this guy was always running around the lake. He was jogging and me and my friend Josh would be hanging out and this guy would come over and talk to us.”
Joe elaborates, “He seemed like a super normal guy. [He] used to be a teacher and he’d retired, probably looked like in his 60’s. Then one day it’s just me. and I’m fishing and he comes by. He’s drunk and he tells me he loves me. I’m super confused. I’d been talking to this guy on and off, I’d seen him for months. He’d come by and say hi. But he was setting this up.”
“Then I realized after he tells me he loves me but there can be no love without sex. I had a knife, so I grabbed it in my pocket and I was like oh my god I’m gonna have to stab this guy. There was no one around. It was just trees and forests. I was gonna cut this guy. It was dangerous.” added Joe.
Post this segment, the duo continued to have a light-hearted conversation with funny anecdotes throughout the rest of the podcast. What do you think about the scary incident that Joe Rogan just shared? Let us know in the comments down below.
