Kevin Holland is one of the most prevalent names in the UFC welterweight division. Much like many other UFC fighters, Holland does not have a rosy past. He has gone through a difficult childhood and made his way up the ladder in the best MMA promotion in the world. Let’s take a look at what we know about Holland’s life, his wife, his son, and his family.
Holland, also known as Trailblazer, is a private person who likes to keep his family out of the public eye. However, do not confuse that with a shy person who does not speak a lot. Holland is famous for having a ‘big mouth’. He talks even during his fights trying to get into his opponent’s head.
Holland was born on November 5, 1992, in Riverside, California. The US native was mostly brought up by his grandparents as, according to reports, his mother used to be in and out of jail and his father has been in jail through his childhood.
He attended Los Osos High School and Chaffey College and got glued to MMA after watching UFC 100. He became a fan of Georges St. Pierre and started his journey toward UFC.
He began his pro-MMA career in March 2015 and earned a win at the Dana White’s Contender Series in June 2018. Soon after, he made his UFC debut against Thiago Santos at UFC 227 in August 2017.
Kevin Holland got married to Charlese Holland in 2019
Not a great deal is known about Holland’s personal life but it is known that he has a wife. A very credible source of their marriage is his wife herself. She has uploaded a seven-minute-long YouTube video that delves deep into their marriage ceremony.
The video, however, is in black and white. The whole ceremony with Charlese walking down the aisle, the UFC fighter and Charlese saying their vows followed by their first dance is all captured in the video.
Charlese has proudly titled the video, “Mr & Mrs Holland 3/3/2019 Kevin Holland and Charlese Holland.” Kevin Holland married Charlese Holland on March 3, 2019. This was just 27 days before Holland went on to defeat Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Fight Night via split decision. Kevin Holland does not have a girlfriend as he is married to Charlese.
Kevin Holland had a son when he was 20 years old
As for Kevin Holland’s kids, he has not opened up about it a lot. He has mentioned having a son very few times and it is always difficult to go about it with very little information. However, in an interview with Brendan Fitzgerald, he opened up about having a son at the age of 20.
During the interview, Holland explained how he got fed up with his son saying he couldn’t cook so he started cooking and his son enjoyed what he made. Holland can cook good steak and decent chicken. In the July 2022 interview, Fitzgerald asked Holland how old his son was and he said, “He’s nine. I’m 29 with a nine year old… It’s perfect.”
He also mentioned getting custody of his child. Holland was probably in a custody battle with his ex for his child. It is unlikely that he had his son with Charlese considering his son was born in January 2013. In January 2024, Holland took to Instagram to wish his son a happy 11th birthday.
Holland’s family is happy with him not fighting to win world titles
In his interview with TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter in September 2023, Holland claimed he did not want to win titles. According to him, winning a title would slow him down. He just wants to keep fighting and earn more money. This is also a plan his family has signed off on.
He said, “If I have the belt, I can fight less. So I’m gonna go out there and fight as much as I can and never worry about a title. I’m only gonna worry about making enough money to take care of my family and set them up for the future, and beating every f***ing person in front of me…I never, ever, worry about a title.
“I had a conversation with my family about it not too long ago. You know what the end of the conversation was? ‘F*** that s***.’…When we thought about the math of it, it’s not good.”
Notably, Holland holds a tied UFC record for most wins in a calendar year (5). He achieved this in 2020, the year of the pandemic. He fought five times from May 2020 to December 2020 and won all his bouts. Holland has fought at least thrice every year since 2019.
