Israel Adesanya, the current middleweight UFC champion trains at City Kickboxing Gym. Currently, Adesanya and his team have set up a camp at Main Street Boxing & Muay Thai, Houston, and are getting trained by wrestling coach Andrei Paulet.
Israel is headlining UFC 271 and will go against his arch-nemesis Robert Whittaker for the second time since he snatched the middle belt from him at UFC 243.
However, he is not the only fighter from City Kickboxing Gym to fight at UFC 271. Two of his teammates are also going to war this Saturday. So, Let’s take a look at Adesanya’s teammates who are going to fight at UFC 271.
Israel Adesanya teammate Mike Mathetha aka “Blood Diamond” fighting against Jeremiah Wells at UFC 271:
Adesanya’s teammate, “Blood Diamond” is a Zimbabwean-born Kiwi kickboxer and MMA fighter. He is a former two times “King in the rings” champion.
Mike is going to kick off the UFC 271 event as he will be taking on Jeremiah Wells in a welterweight bout on the very first fight of the event.

In the latest episode of the UFC 271 embedded vlog, he was seen practicing at Main Street Boxing & Muay Thai with his fellow City kickboxing Gym teammates.

Blood Diamond has an MMA record of 3-0 and is debuting inside the octagon at UFC 271. Previously, he has won against Jo Van Duin via a second-round TKO on his MMA debut at Shuriken Fight Series-1.
Soon after he beat Hyun Min Hwang via submission at Hex Fight Series 15. However, he hasn’t fought any MMA fights for the past 2 years and his most recent bout was in the year 2020 against Dimps Tahau Tiopira Gillies. Where he won the fight via unanimous decision.
Another CKB member Carlos Ulberg will fight against Fabio Cherant at UFC 271:
Another light heavyweight fighter from City Kickboxing Gym, Carlos Ulberg is also fighting at UFC 271. Like Mike, He will also fight in the early prelims of the PPV.

Ulberg is also a two times “Kings in the rings” champion. Carlos made his UFC debut against Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC 259. Losing the fight against Kennedy gave him his first-ever MMA defeat, making his record 5-1.
