In an interview with TheMacLife, Conor McGregor revealed that he would like to take on current UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman for his return to the octagon. McGregor said, “I believe that’s the fight to make. I believe myself and [Kamaru] Usman for the 170-pound title for my comeback fight is the one I’m eyeballing at the minute.”
A fight with Kamaru Usman is a tough ask. However, ‘The Notorious‘ has proved he can achieve anything he set his mind to. A win over the pound-for-pound number one fighter and earning a title in the third weight division would solidify McGregor as the greatest fighter to have ever fought in the UFC.
Joe Rogan issues a warning to Conor McGregor for calling out Kamaru Usman
UFC’s decorated commentator Joe Rogan has given his thoughts on a potential Conor McGregor vs Kamaru Usman fight. Rogan has given a stern warning to Conor McGregor and has said that Kamaru Usman is a ‘top of the food chain’ fighter.
Rogan said, “Conor was talking about fighting Kamaru Usman. Like be careful what you ask for, really be careful what you ask for. Usman is a big man and he’s top of the food chain right now. That’s the best pound for pound fighter alive. Conor is an elite fighter but Usman is a different thing. That’s a different peak.”
With five title defenses under his belt, Kamaru Usman is the current #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. While McGregor is the biggest superstar of the sport and he is always on the lookout for creating history. Thus, ‘The Notorious’ called out Usman for his return fight.
