William Knight misses weight by 12 pounds! The official weigh-in ceremony for UFC 271 took place earlier today. All but two fighters from the card failed to weigh in within their respective weight limits.
Alex Perez was the other fighter to miss weight. He stepped on the scale 2 pounds heavier than the flyweight non-title limit of 126 lbs. Perez’ fight against Matt Schell was later cancelled due to him missing the weight. This was the fourth time when a fight between these two has been called off.

However, the biggest story from the weigh-in ceremony came from the light-heavyweight division. The aforementioned William Knight missed weight by an insane 12 lbs. He was scheduled to fight Maxim Grishin on the prelims of UFC 271. But the contest has been bumped up to heavyweight as Knight came in at 218 lbs.

The rest of the fighters on the card made weight. Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker, both weighed in at 184 lbs for the middleweight title fight. That makes the main event of UFC 271 official. In the co-main, both Derrick Lewis (266lbs) and Tai Tuivasa (265lbs) weighed in within the heavyweight limit.
William Knight has missed weight by a historic margin
Although it seems as if, William Knight’s miss is extremely shocking. But this isn’t the first time a fighter has missed weight by a big margin. Rampage Jackson missed weight by 7 pounds for his fight against Ryan Bader at UFC 144.
Current middleweight fighter Kelvin Gastelum missed weight by 9 pounds during his weigh in to fight Tyron Woodley at UFC 183. Mike Perry is also on the list as he missed weight by 4.5 pounds at UFC 255 where he fought Tim Means. But at second place behind Knight is Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson. He missed weight by 11 pounds at UFC. It was his first fight at middleweight after a brief run at welterweight.
These were some of the worst weight misses in the history of UFC. Currently, there are no words on what went wrong during the weight cutting process of William Knight. He has been fined 40 per cent of his purse. Knight will also be ineligible for any kind of bonus.
