Justin Gaethje

Former UFC lightweight interim champion, Justin Gaethje takes on the former Bellator champion, Michael Chandler in his next fight. This fight has not been officially announced yet. However, multiple sources have mentioned that ESPN’s Ariel Helwani broke the news.

Michael Chandler made the greatest UFC debut at UFC 257 where he knocked out Dan Hooker in the co-main event. And now he gets to fight the former interim champion who has already fought Khabib Nurmagomedov. If Michael Chandler outclasses Gaethje in this fight then a statement will be made to the lightweight champion.

Khabib has said that he wants to see something spectacular and Chandler might be the one to bring him back from retirement.

Both Gaethje and Chandler are two of the most destructive strikers in the UFC lightweight division. However, Chandler will have a huge advantage in the wrestling and grappling department. However, this is not going to be an easy fight for both the fighters.

Michael Chandler vs Justin Gaethje solves the mess in the lightweight division

UFC lightweight division is currently one of the most exciting and talent stacked divisions in UFC. From Dustin Poirier to Islam Makhachev, the division has a lot of exciting matches to offer. However, the absence of Khabib Nurmagomedov has put the division in a mess.

The fans are not aware whether Khabib Nurmagomedov is going to defend his title inside the octagon again. But, it seems we will soon have the number one contender in the lightweight division.

Khabib Nurmagomedov

At the moment, Dustin Poirier is likely to take on Conor McGregor in a trilogy. Justin Gaethje will face Michael Chandler and we also have Charles Oliveira waiting for his shot at the title. And it looks like the fans will have to wait for quite a long time to find out the next possible opponent of Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveria are the two top contenders whom Khabib has not faced yet. So it would be intriguing to watch Khabib take on any of these two fighters. However, the lightweight champion is waiting to witness something spectacular that would force him to come out of retirement. Now it’s up to the contenders to put on a performance that would wow the greatest lightweight in UFC history.
