UFC 274 will feature the most violent and anticipated match you can think of in Michael Chandler vs. Tony Ferguson. It seems like a guaranteed thriller.
The two lightweights, regarded among the best fighters in the history of the division, are set to collide at UFC 274 on May 7, right before the main event of Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje’s fight for the promotion’s lightweight title.
It’s surely an important fight for both men as they are both on a losing streak and this win will certainly give them the boost they need.
The former Bellator lightweight champ, Chandler is riding a decision loss to Justin Gaethje and a stoppage loss to Charles Oliveira in a failed bid for the lightweight title. He is often regarded as one of the most violent strikers for his continuous aggressiveness and power.
Ferguson, the former UFC interim lightweight champion, is in an even worse situation. He is on a losing streak ever since his stoppage loss to Gaethje and continued with a pair of decision losses to Oliveira and Beneil Dariush. If he suffers another defeat, he might lose his spot on the UFC roster altogether.
Chandler and Ferguson were involved in a verbal spat during the pre-fight press conference of UFC 262. ‘El Cucuy’ sarcastically claimed that Chandler has ‘Dana White privilege’, as Chandler got a title fight in his 2nd fight.
Meanwhile, Tony never got the chance in his whole career despite being a top contender and overall one of the greatest entertainers.

Michael Chandler Believes Tony Ferguson is a Tough Opponent for Him
After a blasting battle against Justin Gaethje, Michael Chandler finds himself against the craziest fighter to ever compete in the UFC, Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson at UFC 274.
Chandler is hesitant to declare that Ferguson is past his prime. He praised Tony’s ability to withstand an impossible amount of damage, and still stand on his feet. But he’s more than ready to pour on the punishment when they clash on May 7 to find out for certain.
In a recent interview, Chandler said:
“He’s a scary, scary man. He doesn’t really have an off switch. Even Justin Gaethje couldn’t really shut the off switch off. He was still conscious. He was still moving. Tony Ferguson is just that dude.”
Tony Ferguson is a tough fighter and will never give up inside the octagon. But there is no denying the fact that Ferguson is past his prime. And the current, younger top contenders have the skills to dominate him.
As for Chandler has the power and the fighter mentality to secure a KO win, even against Tony Ferguson. It is obvious that he will be favored in this fight. But Tony is very unpredictable inside the Octagon.
Both fighters are currently on a losing streak. ‘Iron’ has lost his last two fights and ‘El Cucuy’ is on a 3-fight skid. Chandler is currently ranked No.5 and Ferguson is No.7 in the lightweight division. This bout will surely be something to behold and is destined to be another bloodbath, looking at both fighters’ past fights. Watch how other fighters reacted to the war between Gaethje and Chandler:
