Former UFC lightweight champ Charles Oliveira is feeling like a new man in the new year. The #1 lightweight contender, Oliveira has recently gotten a new hairdo. Now it appears that he is taking his makeover even further with a brand-new tattoo.

Taking to Instagram, ‘Do Bronx’ posted a series of photos showcasing the new tattoos. Alongside a whole host of tattoos, Charles now has a new tattoo covering his back. Previously, Oliveira showed the work in progress which depicts the face of a lion. As such, each half of the lion’s face is on either side of the spine, which has now been completed.

“Another great job completed with my brother @espositotattoo just gratitude. 11 hours of hard work.” The newest addition, which starts just underneath the ‘Oliveira’ tattoo, apparently took 11 hours to make. Notably, Oliveira has often been said to have the heart of a lion, which may have helped his choice of tattoo.

Last time around, ‘Do Bronx’ failed to regain his belt against Islam Makhachev at UFC 280. However, it is a new year and Oliveira has vowed to begin a new run for the lightweight title. Embodying the heart of a lion, the 33-year-old will hope to live up to his own expectations and once again become the most feared man in his division.

Recently, Oliveira teased fans with a cryptic tweet, suggesting that he could be close to signing his next fight in the Octagon. According to rumors, Oliveira will be facing the #4 ranked Beneil Dariush, having cleared out the rest of the top 5 in the division.

How many other animal tattoos does Charles Oliveira have?

Other than his new tattoos, Oliveira already sports a lot of ink throughout his body. The 33-year-old has tattoos of family members and animals such as horses, gorillas, and elephants, among others. As such, most of his tattoos are visible on his chest and arms. Some are on the inner side of his arm, on his right bicep, the center of his chest, and his back.

Oliveira’s love for horses and harness racing is well known by now. As such, it is the most recurring tattoo on his body and can be seen on his left forearm, left elbow, and left bicep. Thus, he has 5 horse tattoos scattered across his body.

Similarly, Oliveira has tattoos of an elephant, a rhino, a gorilla, and a lion in different places on his body. Whilst these tattoos do not have any individual significance, they are meant to represent the qualities of the animals they portray. For example, a gorilla signifies dignity, loyalty, compassion, strength, gentleness, accountability, leadership, and so on.

Charles Oliveira’s family tattoos and their meaning

Most notably, on his back, you will find a nod to Chute Boxe gym and his family name stretched from one end of the shoulder to the other. On his left forearm, Oliveira has a tattoo signifying a heartbeat which is a reminder of the value of life. Also on the inside of his left wrist are the initials T and C, standing for his wife Talita Roberta Pereira and himself, along with a love knot under it.

Charles has an adorable portrait of his daughter, Tayla, on his left pec. She was born to Charles and his wife, Talita in 2017 i.e. after three years of their marriage in 2014. Charles got this tattoo inked ahead of his UFC 262 fight against Michael Chandler for the vacant UFC lightweight championship.

Moreover, in March of 2022, Oliveira added portraits of his parents onto his chest as well. ‘Do Bronx’ made this incredible gesture of gratitude towards them for giving him the best life they could.

With new war paint and a fresh look, will Charles Oliveira recapture his title? Will he put together another run and shatter everyone’s expectations? What did you make of his new tattoo? Leave us your thoughts in the comments below.
