When we think about some of the most dominant runs in UFC, we can not exclude the featherweight run of Conor McGregor. The former featherweight champion went on an unbeaten streak at the UFC featherweight division and beat Jose Aldo in only 14 seconds.
He finished all of his opponents at the featherweight division except for Max Holloway. Though McGregor won the fight via decision young Holloway gave a tough fight. During a recent fan Q&A, Conor revealed a shocking incident during the Holloway fight. Conor stated that he tore his ACL during the fight against Holloway.
“No. I fully ruptured my left ACL the round before this. The kick almost has me put weight onto that left leg. With no stability in it, I jump to the right leg, ending in a type of pistol squat, to save any weight being put on the ruptured leg, which would’ve caused it to crumble.”

It’s not the first time we have heard a fighter overcoming adversities to pick up a victory. However, the toughness McGregor has shown over the years is spectacular. After watching what Khabib did to Gaethje, Conor’s performance at UFC 229 looks impressive. And if we consider the fact that Conor was not at his best before the Khabib fight, the rematch does sound intriguing for most of the fans.
However, Conor came out recently that he is open to a rematch against Max Holloway as well. Both Holloway and McGregor have come a long way since their first encounter.
Max Holloway has gone on to become one of the greatest UFC champions while Conor became the lightweight champion. Holloway has lost twice to the Volkanovski, which does open up the possibility for him to move up to 155.
He did fight Dustin Poirier for the interim title, but physically he was not at the peak condition to fight a lightweight division. But, if he can take his time and put weight the right way then he can be an unstoppable force at lightweight. And maybe then the fans will finally be able to see the rematch between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway.
But for now, Conor McGregor is aiming to get another shot at the UFC lightweight title. And he is likely to fight Dustin Poirier in an elimination bout for the number one contender spot.
