“The double champ does whatever the f**k he wants!” These famous words were uttered by a man who reached the pinnacle of his field in 2016. The man in the discussion is Conor McGregor. Perhaps the most well known UFC fighter to ever walk inside the octagon. This time he wants to fight Charles Oliveira.
Conor McGregor is currently healing up the leg injury he suffered back in July of 2021. He lost the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier after snapping his ankle. McGregor has not been able to fight at his best since winning the 155 lbs belt against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
Since that, the Irish fighter is 2-3 in the last 5 professional fights that included a boxing fight against Floyd Mayweather. He also lost big fights against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier. However, he still remains the most popular fighter in the UFC at the moment. Combined, the 33-year old sold 11.4 million PPVs in those 5 fights.

UFC president Dana White recently added that Conor McGregor is a special talent. He also added McGregor’s wish will certainly be entertained. If the Dublin native’s recent Tweet is anything to go by, Lightweight championship is what he wants.
Will Conor McGregor make his return against Charles Oliveira?
It is believed that Conor McGregor will make his return in the summer later this year. However, will the UFC let him fight for the lightweight championship right away? Although Justin Gaethje is currently the no. 1 contender to fight the champ, the possibility of Conor jumping the gun is a real one. According to a recent interview, the champion is interested in the money fight as well.
If not Charles Oliveira, then UFC has two other probable scenarios. The fourth fight with Dustin Poirier is a real possibility. It will give Conor McGregor an opportunity to avenge his losses. The fight will also present an opportunity to judge where he is at in his career.
The other option is Nate Diaz. He and McGregor have won one fight each. Due to their popularity, the trilogy will be a massive event nevertheless.
