UFC 282 had a very disappointing end to it, as Magomed Ankalaev vs Jan Blachowicz ended in a split decision draw. The bout had the vacant light heavyweight title on the line after an injured Jiri Prochazka relinquished the title. However, the belt still remains vacant after a five-round battle between Blachowicz and Ankalaev. However, that will potentially change at UFC 283, as Dana White drops bombshell news!

After the UFC 282 main event ended in a split decision draw, fans were understandably left upset. But UFC President Dana White revealed during the post-fight press conference that he is booking light heavyweight fighter Jamahal Hill and former champion Glover Teixeira for the vacant title in the main event of UFC 283.

“You do Glover vs Jamahal Hill in Brazil for the vacant title,” added Dana. Asked if the bout was official or not, White revealed, “(it’s) done!” In a way, Dana breaks his own rule with the announcement. The 53-year-old has always maintained that he never makes fights on the day of the event. However, extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary solutions and Dana took the step.

Dana White gives Glover Teixeira a shot at redemption against Jamahal Hill at UFC 283

Glover Teixeira was supposed to be fighting Jiri Prochazka in the UFC 282 main event. But, after Prochazka’s shoulder injury, the UFC offered Glover the opportunity to fight for the belt against Magomed Ankalaev. However, the former champ wanted more time to prepare for Magomed and was prepared to accept the bout in January.

However, UFC did not want to wait around and moved on from Glover. But, it looks like they are going back to Teixeira once more. He will now fight Jamahal Hill in the main event of UFC 283, which takes place in his home country Brazil. Aside from this particular bout, Brandon Moreno will also take on the UFC flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo in the co-main event.

Glover Teixeira lost his last fight to Jiri Prochazka at UFC 275 via submission. However, that was a great fight and one that the 43-year-old was on the cusp of winning. So it appears that Teixeira will finally get his immediate rematch for the title oon. Jamahal Hill, on the other hand, is on a 3-fight win streak and defeated Thiago Santos in his last fight on August 6th.
