While fight fans around the world are going mad over the potential fight between two former interim Champions Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson, former dual Champion Daniel Cormier feels otherwise. Now retired and probably one of the greatest of all time, Daniel Cormier opened up about his thoughts on a potential Dustin Poirier vs Tony Ferguson fight and reveals that he feels there are other match-ups for Dustin Poirier.
Earlier, it was reported that Dustin Poirier will take on Tony Ferguson is a possible #1 contender’s fight for the UFC Lightweight Championship in the co-main event of UFC 254. However, the bout fell apart after Poirier failed to come to terms with the UFC. Dana White also revealed that they are looking for another opponent for Tony Ferguson. However, recently, Tony Ferguson put out a tweet where he urged UFC President Dana White to “pay the man” so the “hardcore and casual fans” can get what they deserve, “a good fight.”

Recently, former Bellator Champion Ben Askren called Poirier “dumb” for not taking the fight against Tony Ferguson. However, former dual Champion Daniel Cormier was happy at Poirier’s decision and revealed that he shouldn’t have to fight Ferguson next.
“I don’t want it. Remember what I told you, for the fights that Dustin has been in, Dan Hooker, Justin Gaethje, Max Holloway, Khabib. I wanted him to take a little bit of a step back in terms of who he fights next. Not another guy that is going to be a blood and guts war. There are guys in there that he can go out there and fight. I am not even talking about guys out of the top-10. They are gonna be tough. There are other fights out there for Justin. Now you are going to fight the #1 contender again.” Cormier stated.
“Here’s Lookin’ At You Kid” Pay the man @danawhite @ufc Love ya’ll but let’s give the Hardcore & Casual fans what they deserve, a good fight Sir

“Wait. No, I never said I am happy. I am saying that initially when everybody was pumped and jazzed about the fight, I am thinking, gosh, I wish he would have gotten, maybe a wrestler. Somebody who is going to hold him down and he can submit him. Maybe something different where he is not getting punched in the face and elbowed the whole time. And even if he wins the fight, which he can. Tony is going to cut him up and Tony is going to do all these thing which is going to make the fight difficult.”
