Following the slapping incident on New Year’s Eve, many have called for Dana White to depart from the UFC. With the public outcry against White increasing by the day, it seems like the UFC’s decision could already be made.
The UFC head honcho recently found himself in a heap of trouble after videos of him exchanging slaps with his wife surfaced. The pair, admittedly in a drunken stupor, had a go at each other till family and friends stepped in. Even with Dana admitting that it is “one of those situations that’s horrible” and making “no excuses”, people are calling for his head.
In his statement, Dana says, “You’ve heard me say for years, there’s never, ever, an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman, and now here I am on TMZ talking about it… This is one of those situations that’s horrible. I’m embarrassed… People are going to have opinions on this, and most of the people’s opinions will be right, especially in my case. You don’t put your hands on a woman, ever.”
The statement has come under heavy scrutiny after fans compared Dana’s situation to that of Luis Pena and Dan Hardy. Previously, the UFC released Pena after he was arrested for domestic violence. Similarly, Dan Hardy was let go from the organization after allegedly mistreating a female co-worker.
With White very vocal in these previous instances, has the time come for him to face the same consequences himself? Although the 53-year-old is still on vacation, many suspect that his time with the UFC is at an end, once he returns.
Dana White to be fired from the UFC?
Currently, there have been no official statements from UFC on the incident. However, that hasn’t stopped the online community from relentlessly trolling White and meme-ing him across all social media. Notably, there haven’t been many reactions from too many active UFC fighters.
From fans to media to Brendan Schaub, check out these Twitter reactions to the video that took the fight world by storm:
I love Dana and everything he has done for the sport… But he needs to be fired. If we want to be a credible sport we need to be treated as such. Roger Goodell would be fired, so would Adam Silver, Rob Manfred, and Gary Bettmen (Had to google that one…) #UFC #DanaWhite https://t.co/3q62oeZYSX

Was Dana White wrong , “YES” . Men shouldn’t hit women. Do I feel this is a reflection of who Dana White is , NO. Dana has been a component of second chances . I think speaking up against the topic and maybe sit out two events is fair! He admitted he was wrong !

Wonder if this will be ignored like Jon Jones or if they will mark the end of Dana White and usher in the Hunter Campbell era. https://t.co/NIkGFOMRgD

Seriously? Beating up a woman???? Credibility right out the door and man card revoked.
No more @ufc for this guy— Paul Scotthorne (@vicpartycrasher) January 4, 2023
remember when the UFC hired independent investigators if a fighter was accused of domestic violence and 100% of the time they said there was no evidence of wrongdoing, and also those "independent investigators" were Dana White's personal lawyers? still a coincidence, surely

In light of the recent controversy, old accusations of Dana’s infidelity have resurfaced as well! In an exposé, White’s mother June White alleged that the UFC President also had an affair with his sister-in-law. But, that was not it, he allegedly had affairs with ring girls as well.
With the wildfire burning strong and bright, it will be a while before Dana White can put this whole ordeal behind him. In the meantime, should he be fired from the UFC? Or should he be given a lesser punishment? Leave us your thoughts in the comments below.
